Glock Switch Full Auto - SHREVEPORT, La. () - Representatives from the New Orleans Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) were in Shreveport on Tuesday to demonstrate a simple device that turns traditional semi-automatic Glock pistols into fully automatic weapons.

Shreveport police officials say they are increasingly seeing the device being used in shootings around the city. The ATF says the Glock switch is an illegal device classified as a machine gun under federal law.

Glock is one of the most popular handguns in the United States. Now people are searching the dark web, using 3D printers, or sometimes just looking on sites like Etsy to buy a small quarter board called a Glock Switch that can turn a Glock into a fully functional but illegal machine gun.

The Glock switch allows the gun to fire 15 rounds in less than a second. With an extended scope in the same Glock, one can fire 30 rounds in less than three seconds.

The ATF was in Shreveport on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 to demonstrate how the Glock switch works and why it can be so dangerous.()

Officials say what makes the Glock so dangerous is its variable rate of fire and its inaccuracy. Even trained ATF agents struggle to loosen a Glock bolt when pressed by a switch. BIRMINGHAM, Alabama () - A small, illegal device used in mass shootings in the United States is now showing up in cities across Alabama. It's called an auto sear, but it's more commonly known as a Glock conversion. It converts a Glock pistol, a popular semi-automatic handgun, into a machine gun.

As violent crime continues to rise at an alarming rate in Jefferson County, police reached out to 6 on Your Side to warn and educate the public.

Illegal Device Makes Semiautomatic Pistols Fully Automatic

Glock transmissions are smaller than a quarter, cheaper and more reliable. So much so that the Birmingham police did not understand what they were seeing when the first guns that appeared in the city were changing.

"We knew when we first saw them that the gun looked different than the way it was made, so we started making inquiries with the ATF," explained BPD Chief Scott Thurmond. "I was shocked because this is a big threat to our society."

The device mounts on the back of the Glock and allows the user to switch between semi-automatic and full-automatic modes. When engaged, the switch engages the trigger mechanism to operate as a machine gun.

"Every time he pulls the trigger, he fires more shots," added ATF Special Agent Ashley Lightner, who oversees the agency's cases in Alabama. "He can fire eleven to two hundred rounds in one minute. Too dangerous for innocent bystanders. It's not a real weapon."

Lightner, ATF agents and local officers demonstrated their firepower at the local gun range. Using a Glock 17, the experts fired fifteen rounds from a semi-automatic handgun and repeated it with a Glock switch.

It took a little over one second to pull those rounds with the Glock switch compared to six seconds with the semi-auto.

"There's a lack of control, just bullets pouring out everywhere," Thurmond said. "It's not a targeted fire and that's why there are so many innocent people who can get hurt just by using these."

"When they're inaccurate, the concern is that if someone tries to shoot someone else, there's a good chance there's an innocent bystander around, and there's a good chance they're going to get shot," Lightner said. "And we've seen a lot of that in our community and across this country."

BPD started finding Glock guns in Birmingham about a year ago. The ATF confirms that incidents have increased in the Southeast in the last three months.

"We hear it regularly on ShotSpotter, so we know it's in our city," Thurmond added.

ShotSpotter is a police tool that shows maps of shootings across the city. BPD released a recent video of a ShotSpotter report of what they believe was a Glock switch being used. We clearly heard 26 shots fired per second.

Earlier this year, BPD recovered a Glock convertible pistol in an officer-involved shooting. Although they were not directly involved in this fire, it is changing the way the police do their jobs.

How Auto Sears Make Glocks Fire Like A Machine Gun

"Anything that can be concealed in a handgun that can be concealed in a pocket, belt or anywhere else with the ability to fire multiple rounds very quickly, that's troubling," Thurmond said.

According to the ATF, most of the devices come from overseas or are manufactured domestically, which makes them easy to track.

"It's very simple," Lightner admitted. "You can catch them on the streets. We've seen prices ranging from $15 to $30 online over the last few years, we've seen them rise in popularity here recently to around $150 online. You can probably get them on the street for about $1,000 more than that."

"There is no state law that bans Glock revolvers or submachine guns, although other states do," said Prim Escalona, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama. "Alabama doesn't have that."

Sold Converted Glock 17 Was Actually Priced Very Reasonably

So far, Escalona's office has filed a lawsuit from Tuscaloosa. It's important to note that just converting a Glock violates federal law.

"He faces up to ten years in federal prison and can be fined up to $250,000," she explained. "Part of what we want to do is to keep these very dangerous, powerful and powerful weapons off the streets before they can be used in a homicide or other violent crime."

The law enforcement wants the public to know what these devices look like and what they can do. If you see a modified Glock or know someone who has one, you are urged to call the police.

"There's going to be parents who see this about guns, there's going to be people you know a friend or girlfriend who may see it and we want you to reach out to us," Thurmond said.

(DR) stopped by STS Arms in Oregon yesterday on our way to the 2012 NDIA Joint Firearms Conference, Exposition & Shooting Demonstration in Seattle to pick up some rifles (ARs and other weapons) for the drawing ( Cerakote ceramics), take one of the company's specialties. . . The STS interior features Micro Slick, a permanent hard oil ceramic coating that significantly reduces or eliminates the need for wet oil. STS owner Ron Downs then took us out into the field for a little shooting session with some of his rifles, including an in-house (STS Arms) SBR tactical AR chambered in 300 AAC Blackout, a fully-automatic .22 is in The LR AR, and the piece de resistance, the Glock 22 (G22) select/fire/auto-fire automatic pistol with STS Arms' prototype fire/selector button reminiscent of the FSSG Fire Select System that DR wrote about at length. old times . In fact, the STS Arms rear selector switch seems to work the same way as the FSSG, with only minor differences in physical appearance and materials. STS Arms' latest stock of choice for Glock pistols appears to be all steel, while the FSSG, originally invented by Mr. Jorge A. Leon Venezuela, and manufactured under US patent number US5705763, is a graphite polymer. contains high power. How the STS background circumvents the FSSG patent, or if at all, is anyone's guess. It sure is fun though. Actually, it's very good, sorry. So how does it work? For normal semi-automatic fire, make sure the button selector is pulled all the way to the left so that it comes off the left side and aligns with the right side. For rock n' roll/full auto, just press the button from left to right so the button comes all the way to the right. Like the FSSG, the STS Arms rear stock replacement replaces the standard Glock stock and can be easily swapped from one Glock to another. The first video below (above video) is my second attempt
