Glock usually finds a place among the top contenders in handgun categories, and for good reason. The watches are known for their reliability, relative affordability and simple design. When someone is looking for any type of handgun, Glock will come up in the conversation (9 times out of 10).

Before we dive into this review, let's take a look at how the G43 came to be for a little context. The G43X is a revised and expanded version of the Glock 43. Released in January 2019, the Glock 43X (and G48) are Australian made pistols designed to provide a slimmer frame option at the higher end of the CCW market.

1.) The most obvious thing to talk about will be ability. The G43X provides a standard 10+1 configuration compared to the G43's 6+1 power.
2.) Also an improvement directly related to the power increase is the grip height. The most common grip on the G43 is the short grip, which can create a less-than-ideal grip for shooting. The G43X solves this problem with a grip height similar to the Glock 19.
Most people have at least a few basic requirements in mind when it comes to concealed carry. I know some of you are trying to wear an MK-18 on your ankle, but the rest of us are a little less adventurous.
Here is my list of priorities that I analyze when considering concealed carry firearms. Ultimately, this list will influence my review of the Glock 43X. I recently had the opportunity to take the Glock 43X to the airport in perfect weather. I spent a few hours feeding him hundreds of different types of ammo. This was the first time I fired this firearm and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. What I expected and what I actually experienced with the Glock 43X were two different things.
I had one recurring thought when I showed up at the range to fire up the Glock 43X: "this thing is so light... it should be light."
I loaded my first magazine with Speer Gold Dot 115 GR ammo and sent them to the steel plate. I noticed right away that the gun was actually pretty smooth in terms of recoil control and didn't "pop" nearly as much as I expected. My hands felt right at home in the high beavertail grip, and I had very little trouble controlling the frame while shooting.
The trigger is a common point to consider when choosing any firearm, but especially when it is a compact handgun.

For someone with little experience with aftermarket triggers, the 43X trigger seemed perfectly reasonable. My trigger pull weight test averaged 6 pounds 10 ounces out of 10 test pulls. I've seen others say they had a "less than perfect" experience with this trigger, but that wasn't the case with the 43X I tested. I experienced a smooth trigger pull with a predictable break and a crisp reset.
The Glock 43X Honda Civic is chambered for 9mm ammunition. As someone who supports 9mm, it made the “pro” list before I even held a firearm. Most will agree that the 9mm is a great round and worth trusting with your life. The options for 9mm ammo are seemingly endless and relatively inexpensive.
9mm pistols tend to be lightweight, which makes them appealing to a wide range of shooters. It's hard to go wrong with the 9mm CCW, and Glock used it here.
I was able to run several types of ammo through the Glock 43X and it handled everything with no problems. Knowing that many of you have premium self-defense ammo, I wanted to test a popular ammo option for 43X reliability. I used a Speer Gold Dot 115 GR for this informal test and didn't notice any cycling issues, even when shooting quickly. This is what I want to see from a potential carry gun.
Which Caliber Is Best? Pro Tip: It's Not A Number!
It's fair to say that Glocks are willing to eat just about anything you throw at them without much complaint.
At just 1.10 inches wide and 6.50 inches long, the Glock 43X looks and feels like the Glock 19 that spent all of July in Phoenix, Arizona. Light but not too thin, the Glock 43X fits well in my hands while concealing accessories extremely well in the carry position.
The importance of frame size will obviously vary by body type and build. I'm 5'10" with a 32" waist, so I prefer a gun like this. For some, this is not a big problem and they don't mind "printing" that much. Ultimately it's up to you, but if you're like me, the Glock 43X should fit the bill.
For comparison, I placed my current daily love, the Smith and Wesson 9mm Shield pistol, next to the Glock 43X. I noticed that the two guns are very similar in width and length. When comparing the G43X to the Shield, I noticed a difference in how it molded to my body in the mount's carry position. Based on several days of wearing the 43X, I'd say the Shield wins in this category. Don't get me wrong though, the 43X is still relatively easy to hide.
Shooting The Glock 48 And 43x At Shot Show Industry Day At The Range
The thin and light frame was surprisingly comfortable in the hands while shooting. Good weight balance was evident in the handling of the 43X, which reflected well in the "experience".
In the power department, the Glock 43X stands out from your typical compact pistol, delivering 10 + 1 in its standard configuration. I don't think anyone is going to complain about having 11 rounds of 9mm in a CCW pistol. With its compact frame and overall weight, the Glock 43X is an excellent platform for those who prioritize round counting.
My only real complaint about the larger 43X comes down to my personal preference after carrying the Smith and Wesson Shield for so many years. The Shield fits the body very well (especially with a good holster) and I didn't feel the 43X could match it with a longer grip length. Again, this could be user preference and it could depend on the case as I only used one for testing.
The Glock 43X is very light. Only 18.70 oz. with an empty magazine, this pistol feels lighter than any similarly sized pistol I've held. That being said, I wouldn't describe it as "too light". If you're going to trust your life to a firearm, you don't want it to feel like you're holding a nervous gun. The 43X has a nice balance and consistent quality feel in the hand.

I have to say I was very impressed with this little piece. Shooting with the 43X is comfortable and enjoyable. The functionality, simple design and compact size were truly refreshing.
Picking up the Ameriglow night sights was easy and greatly increased the confidence I feel with this gun in my hands. The pull and cut trigger felt very smooth and predictable. Both the slide release and magazine release were easy to do and didn't feel awkward at all. Well placed teeth on the back and front of the slide were effective and complemented the exterior finish.
In terms of pure aesthetics, I could really do without the two-tone look, as I prefer the all-black finish. Based on shooting experience and gloves that fit the hand, I can forgive the color.

Glock 43x Ammo
They don't like (don't like the h*** word - there's too much of it in today's world). The shooting world is in awe of this company's guns. Some shooters will only buy Glocks. Others wouldn't buy one unless the gun was in the store.
